From June 6th (Fri) to 8th (Sun), we will host a Tap Takeover by “BrewBeast” a brewery based in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture, that began brewing in January 2019. Sixteen taps will be opened at WPÜ BEER DINER SHINJUKU.
Hanamaki City is located in the southern part of Iwate Prefecture, with a population of about 93,000. It’s not a small town, but like many rural areas in Japan, it has seen a decline in population—around 8,000 people over the past decade—due to young people moving away in search of more excitement. Without enough stimulation, the younger generation leaves.
BrewBeast aims to bring that missing excitement to the town through craft beer. Believing in making beer that’s both “delicious” and “cool,” they continue to brew with the hope that Hanamaki will become a town that draws people seeking an alternative to city life, and eventually a hometown they’d want to return to.
On the final day, BrewBeast’s founder Mr. Takahashi and head brewer Mr. Kato will visit the diner, with exclusive merchandise available for sale. We look forward to seeing you there.
