The first Japan performance of picinic, a duo of musicians from Melbourne and Kansas City. Also performing: J and the Woolen Stars, the solo project by J from picnic, alongside Satomimagae, Ultrafog & Pueru Kim, and DJ yuha. A live show where electronica and electro-acoustic sounds diffuse and intertwine in multiple directions.
picnic is an electronic music collaboration based between Melbourne and Kansas City. Their show at WPU in Tokyo marks their first performance outside North America. After releasing “Two Friends” earlier this year they plan to release their third album in 2026
J and the woolen stars, A sentimental object in the shape of emotional malnutrition. An itty-bitty psychic catastrophe tangled, spooled, accumulating, decorative. Somewhere inside that futility is the only honest kind of devotion..
Based in Tokyo, Satomimagae crafts a dynamic form of folk music that moves between warmth and cold clarity. After self-releasing her debut album in 2012, she released two albums on White Paddy Mountain, the label run by Hatakeyama Chihei. In 2021, she signed with RVNG Intl. (NY) and jointly released her fourth album Hanazono with Guruguru Brain, founded by members of Gezan. Following numerous collaborations with artists in Japan and abroad, she released her fifth album Taba via RVNG Intl. in the spring of 2025.
・yuha
Rooted in classical ballet, yuha works across both sound and physical expression. Her experimental DJ style emphasizes the authenticity of electronic music, with performances at venues such as Forestlimit, WWW, and Soup. She is also active as one half of Ole Lukøje, a unit with sugar meiha.
A duo formed by Kanagawa-based musician Ultrafog and Tokyo-based saxophonist Pueru Kim.
Their performances unfold like a conversation—or sometimes a near miss—between guitar and saxophone.
