Pop-Up

On Sunday, April 5th, Nachumaru Wine Store and WPÜ SHINJUKU present the fifth edition of their ongoing wine series exploring the depth and character of wine.

This series invites guests to look beyond wine as simply a “beverage,” and instead rediscover it through layered perspectives — from ingredients and craftsmanship to culture and terroir.
Hosted at WPÜ SHINJUKU, where nearly 90% of our guests come from overseas, the event offers a unique opportunity to experience diverse regions and cultures from around the world — right here in Shinjuku.

The theme for this edition is “Fresh Start.”
As the new season begins, whether your surroundings are changing or staying the same — why not raise a glass?
We’ve curated a selection of fresh, spring-ready wines to celebrate new beginnings.
A new city, a new job, new connections — and perhaps a new favorite wine.

Simply showing up can be a meaningful first step.Join us solo or with friends — all are welcome.
Held in our hotel lounge space, this casual gathering is open to everyone. Come by, relax, and toast to the start of something new.

SAWAUCHI JŌZŌ

Akihiro Sawauchi’s fascination with wine began during his culinary training in Florence, Italy.
Inspired by the vineyards and winery culture he encountered there, he dreamed of one day creating wines that would complement his own cuisine.
After returning to Japan, he opened Ristorante Sawauchi in his hometown of Hachinohe, Aomori, in 2008.
In 2017, he founded the natural winery Sawauchi Winery, where he continues to craft wines that highlight the true character of the grape through a natural approach—free of added sulfites, heat processing, or chaptalization.
In recent years, Sawauchi has also focused on creating spaces where people can enjoy local flavors in their daily lives. Guided by his belief that “both cuisine and wine are creative expressions born from the land,” he continues to bring new vitality to Hachinohe’s food culture.

La Pensée

Located in Minami-Alps City, Yamanashi, this winery is based in a three-story house that also serves as both residence and production space.
Across several estate vineyards scattered throughout the city, organic farming is practiced, and the wines are crafted with care through hands-on work, rooted in an environment that is deeply connected to everyday life.
“LA PENSÉE” — a French word meaning “thought,” “feeling,” and also the name of the flower pansy — reflects the maker’s deep consideration for each grape’s life and for the process of winemaking itself.
We offer honest, warm wines that gently accompany your daily table.
