On Sunday, February 22, we will host the fourth edition of NIPPON WINE HOUR, a recurring event series by Nachumaru Wine Store and WPÜ SHINJUKU exploring the many layers of wine culture.
This series reimagines wine not merely as a beverage, but as a medium shaped by ingredients, makers, places, and culture. Through this lens, we aim to uncover the depth and stories behind each glass.
Set at WPÜ SHINJUKU — a venue where nearly 90% of guests come from overseas — the event offers a chance to experience diverse regional cultures and terroirs from around the world, all while staying in the heart of Shinjuku.
Theme: Beginner Friendly
Whether you already enjoy wine as part of your daily life, or you’re simply curious and looking to discover delicious wines without deep technical knowledge, this event is designed for everyone to feel comfortable and welcome.
For this edition, we are delighted to welcome Fujimaru Winery from Kiyosumi-Shirakawa and Cave d’Occi Winery from Niigata. Together, they will present a carefully selected lineup of wines that are approachable, well-balanced, and easy to enjoy.
The event will take place in the hotel’s lounge space, creating a relaxed and casual atmosphere that is open to everyone.
All guests will receive one complimentary glass of wine to enjoy, and bottles will also be available for purchase.
Feel free to drop by and join us anytime.

Japanese wine is evolving rapidly — production regions and grape varieties are diversifying, and more winemakers are crafting bottles with strong intention and care. Wanting to share these unique wines more widely, Nachumaru Wine Store opened on Christmas Day in 2022.
They introduce wines filled with the stories and passions of their creators, so please stop by and explore their selection.
An urban winery located in the heart of Kiyosumi-Shirakawa.
Working mainly with grapes grown by contracted farmers in Yamagata Prefecture, the winery focuses on expressing the natural characteristics of the fruit and crafting wines that quietly and gently accompany everyday meals.
Founded in 1992, Cave d’Occi Winery is located at the foot of Mt. Kakuda, about 30 minutes from central Niigata City. The winery was created with the idea of inviting people to the place where wine is born and nurtured, allowing them to enjoy wine, food, and a rich, unhurried sense of time.
The expansive grounds include a winery, hotel, hot spring facilities, restaurants, cafés, a market, a spa, and an English garden, forming a stay-type winery resort.
Focusing on wines that reflect Niigata’s local climate and character, Cave d’Occi releases around 100,000 bottles annually, including the Albariño, Dobutsu Series, and Funppy. Together with four neighboring wineries, it forms the Niigata Wine Coast, a distinctive regional wine area.
